Repetitive numbers have captivated human imagination for centuries.

Clocks, license plates, receipts — suddenly the same sequence appears repeatedly, and we wonder:

• Is this coincidence?

• Is it confirmation?

• Is it something more?

The human brain is wired for pattern detection. A network called the reticular activating system (RAS) filters incoming sensory information and highlights what is deemed relevant. Once a symbol or number becomes meaningful, the RAS flags it repeatedly.

This is why when you buy a new car, you suddenly see that model everywhere.

The frequency didn’t increase.
Your attention did.

Psychologists refer to this as frequency illusion or selective attention bias.
